The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs develops a lobby and advocacy programme on sustainable diets for all. A sustainable diet has low environmental impacts and contributes to food and nutrition security and to healthy life for present and future generations. Sustainable diets are protective and respectful of biodiversity and ecosystems, culturally acceptable, accessible, economically fair, and affordable; nutritionally adequate, safe, and healthy, while optimizing natural biodiversity.

In Indonesia, the focus of this project is on sustainable diets in the urban context, particularly the issue of urban food security. AMC, in cooperation with HIVOS, has been contracted to perform a study that puts the Food Advocacy program in action in Indonesia and which will provide a solid basis for the implementation of the program. The study identified the 5 most important trends and related actors (targets, allies and CSO partners) and defined the opportunities and challenges in the country in relation to sustainable diets.
