Indonesia and Denmark have entered a Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) between environmental authorities of the two countries. The Danish Embassy in Jakarta facilitates the partnership, hereunder the cooperation between the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA) and the Indonesian General Directorate of Solid Waste, Waste and Hazardous Substances Management (DG Waste). The Environmental Support Program, Phase III (ESP3), financially supports the cooperation.

The objective of the project is to identify and describe requirements and preconditions for “Best Indonesian Practices in Circular Economy and Solid Waste Management” to suggest tangible interventions for implementing JAKSTRANA.

Results-based monitoring

AMC, in cooperation with INTEGRATION, is performing a Results Based Monitoring projects for Following Programs:
• Policy Advice for Environment and Climate Change (PAKLIM) II
• Indonesian NAMAs Financing Support (INFIS) – Support to the Indonesia Climate Change Trust Fund (ICCTF)
• Biodiversity and Climate Change (BIOCLIME)
• Green Ekonomi and Locally Appropriate Mitigation Actions in Indonesia (GE-LAMA-I)
• NAMA-Green Chillers and Industrial Energy Efficiency Programme (Green Chillers)
The consortium provides consultancy to GIZ and partner ministries on the establishment of a solid results-based monitoring system, efficient reporting and knowledge management including a user-oriented design of learning processes for implementation of these five programs.

Sustainable Regional Economic Growth and Investment Programme (SREGIP): Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production in hotels in Lombok

AMC has been awarded this project under the GIZ- Sustainable Regional Ekonomis Growth and Investment Programme (SREGIP). SREGIP has established a joint initiative with the Ministry of Tourism, BAPPENAS and local authorities in NTB Province to promote Sustainable Tourism in Lombok. One of the activities is the promotion of resource efficiency of hotels through local service providers. In this Project AMC provides support to the association of Engineers of Lombok (ACE). ACE is supported in developing a strategy and work plan to enhance the efficiency and overall business competitiveness of hotels with measurable effects on cost. The capabilities of engineers of hotels in Lombok are improved by training and training on the job on eco hotel auditing. The hotels are audited regarding resource efficiency, energy efficiency, cleaner production, and PROPER issues. ACE is supported regarding following activities:

• Development of a strategy for these association for the mid-term and an action plan for the coming year
• Keep the association into contact with suppliers of environmentally friendly equipment, especially energy saving equipment
• Use of ecolabels and energy labelling for selecting products
• Provide training to engineers of the hotels on environmentally friendly technologies
• Introduction of ESCO companies to hotel managers and owners
• Compile lessons learnt for other hotels and hotel associations
• Develop a dissemination strategy for other areas to implement eco hotel management

Upskilling selected company representatives, Bangladesh service providers and DoE officers and inspectors – devising and piloting modular training on ‘environmental inspection’

Aim of the project is to train officers of department of Environment on environmental inspection.
The outcomes of the competence development measures about enhanced factory environmental inspection training are as follow:

• DoE officers can relate to resource efficiency (RE) and cleaner production (CP) aspects in environmental inspection process with proper understanding of their relationship with end of pipe (EOP) pollution control approaches.
• DoE staff involved in factory environmental inspections can conduct effective factory environmental inspections, integrating resource efficiency (RE) and cleaner production (CP) aspects into their inspection practices during factory visit.
• Selected DoE trainers can continue providing the training.
• DoE officers and Departments concerned with factory environmental inspections can identify the gaps and to take necessary action for amending/upgrading current inspection tools (checklist, materials, record keeping process etc.) and synchronization of overall inspection system (i.e., clearance, inspection and enforcement) in line with enhanced factory environmental inspection practices
• DoE HR department has integrated the training module into its staff development and training programme.

Policy Advice for Climate Change and Environment (PAKLIM) in Indonesia: NAMA – Pulp and Paper Industry

The consortium of adelphi and AMC provides technical and methodological expertise to support GIZ and the Indonesian partner in the successful establishment of a NAMA for the pulp and paper sector. The objective of this work is to formulate a NAMA program in the pulp and paper industry for the Ministry of Industry in a form of a study.

The is performed in six overall tasks 1) Development of baseline (BAU) scenario; 2) Development of GHG mitigation scenarios; 3) Assessment of GHG mitigation scenarios (cost and co-benefits); 4) Assessment of policies and measures required to enable the NAMA; 5) Defining the MRV system; and 6) Institutional setting.

Following objectives shall be achieved through the NAMA in the pulp and paper industry:

1. Reduction of the sector’s specific emissions (i.e., CO2 emissions per unit of product) in a transparent and verifiable manner compared to a statistically sound baseline.
2. Increase the sector’s competitiveness through low carbon development by reducing the energy and cost intensity of production.
3. Reduce the sector’s specific energy consumption
4. Contribute to the achievement of the government´s greenhouse gas mitigation goals.

Training and Workshop on Environmental Management System, Occupational Safety-Health and Hazardous Material Handling at CNOOC SES Ltd, Indonesia

Feasibility Study for Emission Reduction Investment (ERI) PROGRAMM

Financing environmental investments through financial institution in Indonesia is still limited As a Result of misunderstanding of such investment. Environmental investments are generally regarded as risky and unprofitable. GFA and AMC have been contracted by KFW to review the feasibility for ERI program and to prepare a strategic project concept of ERI to ensure that the proposed ERI project will be developed and implemented in accordance with Indonesia’s need and condition.

PAKLIM: Policy Advice for Environment and Climate Change: Development of a concept for Voluntary agreements between GOI and industry to reduce GHG emissions

AMC has been contracted to work out a proposal of a concept for the cooperation with GOI and industries to reduce GHG emissions. This Included Aspects related to the mitigation activities themselves (baseline, monitoring, technology, (financial/fiscal incentive schemes, Policies, and measures) and such related to the formation of the forthcoming component on industries of PAKLIM (roles of partners, objective, indicators). This included development of options for voluntary partnership agreements in different selected industry sectors and an assessment of the potential to reduce emissions, proposal for a baseline approach, potential technologies and incentive schemes and policies & measures.
