The environmental credit line has been designed in collaboration with Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW), Germany in order to encourage economically and financially sustainable industrial units in selected industrial sectors in the SME sectors and Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) to adopt cleaner production measures, so as to reduce the severe pollution loads and the resultant human risks, as well as to improve the profitability of the beneficiary units in the long run. The credits are provided by the Bank SIDBI and sectors eligible are textile, foundries, tanneries, and some other selected companies. 

A scheme to evaluate the companies by auditing has been developed and monitoring tools implemented for SIDBI.
